LovinDaRats' Lines
This page contains information about the lines of rats we currently breed.
Hairless
This line is far from
perfect, but there has been much improvement in a short amount of time for
them. This line typically has a short head and thick, stocky build in the males
and racy bodies in the females. They need improvement in size, type,
temperament, and having less hair. This line will likely come in only Dumbo and
will tend to be RED colors like beige to keep a dark eye color with the clear
pink skin or RB Burmese for the light body color and black eyes.

Cap-Stripe
THIS LINE IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL WE ARE CONFIDENT OF ITS STABILITY.
This line has shown
tremendous improvement over the past five generations in size, health, and
temperament simply from being in a better environment and having smaller litters. This line is a testament
to the difference between a small litter and one that has kittens fighting for
every meal, like in a pet store's breeder environment. This line is thickly
built but typically has longer heads and bad type. Health is generally good; no
megacolon typically associated with the Cs gene but, because of the long heads,
they are sensitive to respiratory issues. There has been history of OCD and two (isolated) cases of hydrocephalus in this line and we are using inbreeding sparingly to keep health going in the right direction. We are hoping to introduce the Fy gene into this line in the future to produce Chinchilla Cap-Stripes.
